Working Principle and Usage Scenarios
The main difference between a pump truck and a mixer truck is their function, working principle and usage scenarios.
Function and working principle
Pumping truck: mainly used for concrete pumping, through the pumping system to transport the concrete to the difficult to reach high-rise buildings or places far away from the site. The pumping truck is usually composed of chassis, turret, boom and pumping system, etc. The concrete is transported to the predetermined position through the boom.
Mixer truck: mainly used for concrete mixing and transportation, delivering the mixed concrete to the construction site. The mixer truck consists of chassis, cab and mixing drum. Through the rotation of the mixing drum, it mixes the raw materials such as cement, sand, stone and so on, and then transports them to the construction site.
Usage Scenarios
Pumping truck: It is suitable for concrete conveying work in large concrete projects such as high-rise buildings, high speeds, overpasses, etc. It is especially suitable for construction sites that are narrow or have obstacles because its boom can flexibly extend to locations that are difficult to access.
Mixer truck: mainly used in processing places and construction sites to transport the mixed concrete to the construction site. The mixer truck is suitable for projects that require a large amount of concrete transportation, but it is relatively single-function and cannot perform pumping operations.
Structural Differences
Pumping trucks: usually taller than mixer trucks because they need to be equipped with long booms in order to transport concrete to high altitudes.
Mixer truck: relatively simple structure, mainly composed of chassis, cab and mixing drum, suitable for short-distance transportation.
Pump trucks and mixer trucks each have their own unique advantages and usage scenarios. Pumping trucks are suitable for projects that require long-distance or high-difficulty transportation, while mixer trucks are suitable for scenarios that require large amounts of concrete transportation but not pumping. Which vehicle to choose depends on the specific construction needs and site conditions.
